Ukraine is actively increasing its presence in the market of frozen raspberries. Only in August this year, domestic companies exported 1.6 times more of this product than the same month last year. The Ukrainian Fruit and Vegetable Association reports on the next record.
The Association specifies that for this period the volume of external supplies was about 2 thousand tons.
Almost everything was shipped to the countries of the European Union. At the same time, the main buyer of the Ukrainian frozen raspberries is Poland: the share of this country in August accounted for more than 80% of all exports, compared to 67% previously.
In general, for July-August frozen raspberries were exported 2,600 tons, which is almost a quarter more than in the same period a year earlier.
The Association explains that the Ukrainian companies managed to achieve this by increasing the harvest of this berry in the country, and by increasing the capacity of shock freezing.
At the same time, analysts emphasize that in monetary terms, exports of frozen berries from Ukraine decreased by 5%. Purchasing prices this year were significantly lower.
In summer, processing enterprises had the opportunity to buy raspberries for frost at 7-10 UAH/kg ($ 0.25-0.35 kg). The prices of raspberry varieties were also much lower than last year.
On the other hand, it gives processors the opportunity to form a raw material base for export during the season, and also to compete in the world market in price terms.
