The company “UkrLandFarming” has increased the area under rapeseed by 60%, according to UNIAN.

The leaders of the holding explain this leap by the high margins, which this crop achieved this marketing year.

This, on the one hand, was facilitated by a favorable, rainy weather in Ukraine at the end of summer, and on the other hand, by a drought in the European Union.

According to forecasts of specialists, in 2018/19 marketing year, the rapeseed harvest in the EU will decrease by 0.82 million tons and hardly exceed 21 million tons. There the yield of this oilseed crop and the sown areas under it will decrease.

In Ukraine, there is the reverse situation: the farms of the Donetsk region increased the area by 64%, the Kiev region increased the area by 30%, and the Zhitomir increased it by 20%, Khmelnitsky and Ternopil regions have about 10% more rapeseed area.

As we wrote earlier, the incentive for agrarians to sow rapeseed is high profitability and favorable weather conditions. In 2018, marginal oilseed reached 43.6%. And the prospects for the 2018/19 marketing season look even more optimistic.

By the way, in 2017/18 Ukraine exported 2.1 million tons of rapeseed, or twice as much as in the previous marketing year.
