The Danish Environmental Protection Agency decided in 2019 to erect a fence on the border with Germany 70 km long, Interfax reports referring to the Danish TV channel TV2.
The barrier will protect the Danish domestic pigs from the ASF, the bearers of which are German wild boars. Although in Denmark itself, where the share of pig production in exports reaches 5%, cases of African fever have not been reported so far.
But the disease is already getting close to their borders. The fence will be 1.5 m high, and its construction will cost 11 million euros.
As we reported earlier, at the end of 2017, Polish President Duda signed a law on combating ASF, which foresees in 2018-2021. construction of a fence on the border with Ukraine, Belarus and Russia longer than 1,000 km worth more than $ 54 million.
However, the sejmik of the Lublin Province, for example, later called on the government to refrain from constructing obstacles on the eastern border, arguing that this was justified in 2016 when there were more outbreaks of ASF.
As a result, wild boars from the east have already reached Berlin.
