One of the world’s largest food companies Nestlé announced an agreement with the international company Starbucks. Nestlé received the rights to sell coffee giant coffee and tea products outside the Starbucks catering network. This was reported on their official portals Nestlé and Starbucks.
This transaction provides Nestlé with a powerful platform for continuing growth in North America with leading positions in premium coffee products, the company said in a press release, and opens up new growth opportunities for it in the rest of the world.
As part of the deal, Starbucks will receive a down payment of $ 7.15 billion, and Nestlé will be able to distribute Starbucks®, Seattle’s Best Coffee®, Starbucks Reserve®, Teavana ™, Starbucks VIA® and Torrefazione Italia®.
Starbucks at the expense of the transaction intends to increase its revenues, as well as pay its shareholders a portion of dividends.
In early 2010, Starbucks was dragged into a series of scandals. In 2012, one of the leaders of Starbucks spoke in favor of same-sex marriages. In response, the National Organization for Marriage called for a boycott of coffee houses, collecting 22,000 signatures.
In the same year, the Reuters agency published an investigation according to which for 14 years of its work in the UK the company paid only 8.6 million pounds of corporate taxes, which did not correspond to its profit from sales of 3 billion pounds.
Today, Starbucks owns more than 28,000 outlets around the world. Nestlé sells more than 2 thousand brands of goods in 189 countries.
